An official delegation from the Patriarchate of Romania is in Brussels for a visit to the European Institutions. These are executives from the Archdiocese of Bucharest and the Patriarchate of Romania (mainly priests and deacons working in the central administration) who are getting acquainted with the work taking place in the heart of Europe.<\/p>\n
After visiting the European Parliament, the delegation was received by His Eminence Metropolitan Athenagoras of Belgium, president of CROCEU (Committee of the Representation of the Orthodox Church to the European Union) and head of the Office of the Orthodox Church to the European Union. The meeting took place at the Orthodox Centre Ambiorix, in Brussels.<\/p>\n
Metropolitan Athenagoras gave some explanation of the work carried out by CROCEU, expressing in particular the position of the Orthodox Church on many issues being discussed and decisions being drawn around in the European Union.<\/p>\n
Metropolitan Athenagoras also spoke about the numerous visits he made to Romania, beginning in 1967, as well as the many personalities he was privileged to meet there that impressed him and his sisters and brother.<\/p>\n
The Romanian delegation brought gifts from the abbot of the Monastery of Radu Voda (Bucharest).<\/p>\n
