Hij was vergezeld door Zijne Eminentie Metropoliet Hilarion van Volokolamsk, Aartspriester Nikolai Balashov en Priester Anatoly Churyakov als tolk. De aanleiding tot het bezoek was zijn verzoek om gesprekken met Zijne Alheiligheid Oecumenisch Patriarch Bartholomeus te voeren over onderwerpen van inter-orthodox belang.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span>Zijne Gelukzaligheid werd verwelkomd op de luchthaven door Zijne Eminentie Metropoliet Gennadios van Sassimes en door Groot-Archimandriet Vissarion, archivaris van het Patriarchaat.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span>Hierop begaf Zijne Gelukzaligheid zich naar het Patriarchaat en werd bij de ingang begroet door Zijne Eminentie Metropoliet Emmanuel van Frankrijk, Zijne Eminentie Metropoliet Bartholomeus van Smyrna, en door de Zeer Eerwaarde Eerste Vicaris Andreas, aan het hoofd van de leden van de patriarchale Hof. Na te zijn opgevangen in de patriarchale kerk, werd hij in de troonzaal van Zijne Heiligheid ontvangen, in aanwezigheid van de prominente leden van de Heilige Synode en andere hi\u00ebrarchen, die gekomen waren om deel te nemen aan de Synaxis van de hi\u00ebrarchie van de Oecumenische troon vanwege het feest van de Indictie.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span>Zijne Alheiligheid wenste Zijne Gelukzaligheid van harte welkom op de zetel van de Moederkerk, en bracht de Geron-Metropolieten van eeuwige gedachtenis Melitos van Chalcedon en Nikodemos van Leningrad in herinnering, almede allen die zich ingezet hebben voor de relaties tussen beide Kerken en in het algemeen voor de inter-orthodoxe relaties.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span>Hij benadrukte hierbij het belang van de dialoog als een goddelijk middel om mogelijke obstakels te overwinnen.
