Brussel, 16-19 oktober 2018.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Op 16 oktober 2018 had het Comit\u00e9 van Vertegenwoordigers van de Orthodoxe Kerken bij de Europese Unie (CROCEU) de eer om de openingssessie te organiseren van de 3e top van de Young Leaders van de Asia-Europe Foundation (3rd AS. EFYLS), een dialoogconferentie over “ethisch leiderschap”. Het evenement vond plaats in de kathedraal van de Heilige Aartsengelen Michael en Gabriel (Oecumenisch Patriarchaat) in het hart van Brussel, waar jonge deelnemers uit 51 landen samenkwamen om van gedachten te wisselen.<\/span><\/p>\n

De Zeereerwaarde Archimandriet Aimilianos Bogiannou, moderator van CROCEU, verwelkomde de deelnemers namens CROCEU en Zijne Eminentie Metropoliet Athenagoras van Belgi\u00eb, met wiens zegen de locatie werd aangeboden.<\/span><\/p>\n

Het eerste deel van de conferentie was een dialoogsessie van de Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) met Europese staatslieden en EU-functionarissen. Het tweede deel van het evenement bevatte toespraken over de vraag “Waar komt de ethiek vandaan?” door vooraanstaande academici, namelijk Prof. Ulf-Daniel Ehlers (Univ. Van Karlsruhe), Prof. Amareswar Galla (International Institute for the Inclusive Museum), Dr. Razwana Begum Bt Abdul Rahim (Univ. Of Singapore), en Eerwaarde vader Prof. Dr. Sorin Selaru (orthodoxe theologie aan de universiteit van Boekarest).<\/span><\/p>\n

Eerwaarde vader Sorin Selaru, die CROCEU vertegenwoordigde, deelde enkele orthodoxchristelijke beschouwingen over het onderwerp. Hij probeerde kort uit te leggen hoe de christelijke visie op de mens en zijn speciale concept van liefde (agap\u00e9) feitelijk de moderne idee\u00ebn over democratie en mensenrechten be\u00efnvloed hebben. Hij zei dat een christelijk begrip van de samenleving, als een onderling afhankelijke gemeenschap of volk, niet alleen gebaseerd is op de dienst van de anderen, maar ook op de behoefte van de ander. We hebben elkaar nodig zoals God Zelf heeft aanvaard om ons nodig te hebben wanneer Hij in een positie was om afhankelijk te zijn van onze genade, om te genieten onze liefde en om te lijden omwille van onze onverschilligheid. Dit idee om de ander nodig te hebben om ervoor te zorgen dat iemand kan groeien en zichzelf kan vervullen als een mens in gemeenschap, werd vervolgens aangetoond aan de hand van een concreet voorbeeld van de geschiedenis van de Europese Unie. V. Sorin benadrukte het feit dat staatsman Robert Schuman (1886-1963), een van de grondleggers van de Europese Unie, ook een religieus persoon was. Zijn geloof gaf hem de spirituele inbreng om een \u200b\u200bbeleid van verzoening en effici\u00ebnte samenwerking te bedenken. De oorspronkelijke droom van Schuman van een “gemeenschap van volkeren diepgeworteld in christelijke basiswaarden” blijft een impuls voor christenen om te geloven en mee te doen aan het project van een verenigd Europa.<\/span><\/p>\n

De conferentie werd afgesloten met een reflectiemoment, waarbij de jonge deelnemers de kans kregen om tussen te komen, vragen te stellen en hun standpunten te delen.<\/span><\/p>\n

De Asia-Europe Foundation is een multiculturele internationale organisatie gevestigd in Singapore, die kennis en wederzijds begrip tussen mensen en instellingen in Azi\u00eb en Europa bevordert, terwijl CROCEU het Comit\u00e9 is van de Vertegenwoordigers van de Orthodoxe Kerken bij de Europese instellingen, dat met \u00e9\u00e9n stem spreekt over de bezorgdheden en bijdragen van de orthodoxe kerken en hun rol in de wereld.<\/span><\/p>\n
