De wake vond plaats op maandag 28 maart 2016 en was georganiseerd door de rooms-katholieke, orthodoxe, protestantse, evangelische en anglicaanse Kerken.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\"><span lang=\"el\" xml:lang=\"el\">De 1.100 beschikbare plaatsen waren allemaal bezet. Op de voorste rijen zaten onder meer slachtoffers van de aanslagen en hun familieleden. Ook het personeel van Brussels Airport, de brandweer en de hulpdiensten van het Rode Kruis waren aanwezig, net als de agenten die de slachtoffers geholpen hebben vlak nadat de aanslagen gebeurden.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\"><span lang=\"el\" xml:lang=\"el\">Kerkleiders van diverse christelijke erediensten in Belgi\u00eb zaten de oecumenische viering voor, w.o. Aartsbisschop Jozef De Kesel (katholiek), Metropoliet Athenagoras van Belgi\u00eb (orthodox), Dominee Steven Fuite (protestant), Dr. Geert Lorein (evangelische) et Priester Stephen Murray (anglicaan). Waren eveneens aanwezig namens de Orthodoxe Kerk: Zijne Excellentie Aartsbisschop Simon, vergezeld van Priester Dimitri Sizonenko (Patriarchaat van Moskou) en 25 priesters en diakens van het Aartsbisdom van Belgi\u00eb.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\"><span lang=\"el\" xml:lang=\"el\">&#8220;Pasen is een feest van vreugde en hoop. Maar na wat er in Zaventem en hier in het hart van onze stad is gebeurd, hebben we het niet gevierd zoals gewoonlijk. Heel de Heilige Week is getekend&#8221;, zei aartsbisschop van Mechelen en Brussel Jozef De Kesel. Die noemde de aanslagen &#8220;uiterst criminele daden. Geweld waarvoor geen naam is. Maar ze zijn ook m\u00e9\u00e9r dan dat. Ze zijn een aanval op de fundamenten zelf van onze samenleving. Op datgene wat onze moderne samenleving zo waardevol maakt: vrijheid, eerbied voor elkaars eigenheid en anders-zijn, broederlijkheid en solidariteit&#8221;.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\"><span lang=\"el\" xml:lang=\"el\">&#8220;We zijn zo dankbaar voor de vloed van solidariteit die op gang is gekomen. Daarom zoeken we elkaar op: om onze solidariteit te tonen en onze weerbaarheid. En om, temidden alle onmacht en verdriet, troost te vinden bij elkaar. En bij God die bron is van alle liefde.
