Op zaterdag 10 juni 2017 werd de Uitvaartdienst gevierd van wijlen rooms-katholiek bisschop Leon Lemmens, hulpbisschop voor Vlaams-Brabant en Mechelen, die enkele dagen eerder in de Heer ontslapen was.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

De Uitvaardienst, die plaats vond in de Heilige Romboutskathedraal te Mechelen, werd voorgegaan door kardinaal Jozef De Kesel, de rooms-katholieke aartsbisschop van Mechelen en Brussel, in aanwezigheid van vele rooms-katholieke bisschoppen uit Belgi\u00eb, evenals kardinaal Godfried Danneels.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Er was een belangrijke aanwezigheid van leden van de Sint-Egidiusgemeenschap uit Antwerpen. Een grote menigte nam samen afscheid van haar geliefde bisschop, die, zoals kardinaal Jozef de Kesel hem omschreef, steeds mensen in nood terzijde stond, en vooral migranten.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

De r-k bisschoppen van Belgi\u00eb vierden de Mis samen met onder andere r-k bisschop Vincenzo Paglia, verantwoordelijke voor de gemeenschap van Sant’Egidio, waar wijlen bisschop Lemmens lid van was, en de pauselijke nuntius in Belgi\u00eb: r-k bisschop Augustine Kasujja, die paus Franciscus vertegenwoordigde.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Op de Uitvaartdienst waren vertegenwoordigers uitgenodigd van alle erediensten in Belgi\u00eb. De Orthodoxe Kerk werd, doordat Zijne Eminentie Metropoliet Athenagoras van Belgi\u00eb weerhouden was op de Fanar, vertegenwoordigd door de Zeer Eerwaarde Heer Stavros Triantaf\u00fdllou, Aartspriester van de Oecumenische Troon, en de Eerwaarde Heer Priester Athan\u00e1sios Toparl\u00e1kis. Verder waren er vertegenwoordigers van de protestanten, van de anglicaanse kerk, een vertegenwoordiger van het isra\u00eblitische consistorie, evenals de syro-jacobitische bisschop van Belgi\u00eb.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
