Sinds 1256 dragen de stadsbestuurders, geestelijken en leken de reliek op de eerste maandag van mei in processie rond, wat later verschoof naar de donderdag van Hemelvaart, omdat dat een vrije dag is.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\"><span lang=\"el\" xml:lang=\"el\">Doordat de reliek bewaard wordt in Constantinopolitaans bergkristal, de processie pas uitging nadat graaf Boudewijn van Vlaanderen en Henegouwen tot Latijns keizer van Constantinopel was benoemd, en omdat er in het geplunderde Boukoleonpaleis een reliek werd bewaard van bloed dat uit een Christusikoon in Antiochi\u00eb was gevloeid, wordt nu aangenomen dat het om die laatste reliek gaat.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\"><span lang=\"el\" xml:lang=\"el\">De processie vertrekt van de Heilige Bloedkapel, trekt door de hele stad, waarbij sc\u00e8nes worden uitgebeeld uit het leven van Christus, en eindigt op de Burg, voor het stadhuis, waar de rooms-katholieke bisschop het volk zegent met de reliekhouder.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\"><span lang=\"el\" xml:lang=\"el\">Zijne Eminentie de Metropoliet van Belgi\u00eb nam in antwoord op de beleefde uitnodiging door de rooms-katholieke bisschop van Brugge deel aan de feestelijkheden, waaronder een feestmaal op het bisdom, enerzijds voor de levendige aanwezigheid van de orthodoxie op deze belangrijke gebeurtenis voor de stad Brugge, en anderzijds voor het voortzetten van de goede banden met de plaatselijke rooms-katholieke kerk, dit voor het welzijn van de orthodoxen in de streek. De Metropoliet van Belgi\u00eb is de stichter van de Orthodoxe Parochie van de HH.
